Project idea[edit]

What is the problem you're trying to solve?[edit]

Getting more female editor's is the goal.

What is your solution?[edit]

Wikipedia doesn't advertise, except when they do. These advertisements are called campaign drives or are for telling everyone about about some wiki election. There's alot of things wikimedia does already that could be repurposed for this goal. Beyond editors we also have readers, it's a general assumption that some of these readers are women. You also target the front pages with women related articles, like say every tuesday. If you say you want more women editors fine, tell them.

Project plan[edit]

Activities[edit]

Testing a targeted media campaign to attract female editors to Wikimedia projects.

Budget[edit]

Net-Zero Just the time of volunteers and the support of wikimedia and it's related projects

Community engagement[edit]

This is all about community participation. Getting more participants and using the the participants that we already have to do so. On wikipedia there is advertisement, just not for products and services. Wikimedia or one of its projects advertises that they are seeking funding thru (for lack of a better term) the use of a nag screen. Voting for internal positions are advertised in specific places. How can we make use of what we already have to benifit us. In this case seeking women from our use bases(readers) to also become editors. IF successful this could perhaps be used elsewhere to benifit the project in other ways.

Sustainability[edit]

If the tests work it can be continued and also perhaps used elsewhere.

Measures of success[edit]

Increase the participation of female editors.
