What problem does this solve?[edit]

The chapters often face the organization of many events in a very short time. The consequences of a lack of communication can be greatly compromising for the success of an event. But human and financial resources are often a brake. This is exactly the problem Wikimedia France has faced in October 2014.

Wikimédia France has chosen to support the Public Domain Festival, a contest that has been created last year by another close to our interests association. We were was asked to provide an organizational support but also support the event in terms of communication. Not being an action planned in the annual plan, the association had to find a solution.


What is the solution?[edit]

There is a way to be able to overcome this difficulty, involving communication school students. Design and communication schools seek to engage students in creative processes leading to a professional project. The strength and professionalism of teachers supervising the students can guarantee real quality in their work. Moreover, including in a school program the work your need, allows to set a deadline that must be held. So this is a real opportunity to suggest a collaboration between schools and chapter.

Therefore Wikimedia France has contacted several schools in Paris specializing in communication and design. A partnership was signed with one of them, ESAT Workshop Hourdé school. From this agreement, a process of 2 months was necessary to achieve the contest’s visual identity.

The conduct of the proceedings[edit]

Achieve an accurate brief for the demand. It also helps you to target your goals, your expectations and your needs. Contact several schools to suggest the project to have a wide range and then be able to choose the best partner. Validate the project and ensure that it fits into the educational program of the school, to ensure the goodwill of the school. Organize meetings points with the students and teachers every two weeks, to allow monitoring of the project with a real interaction between applicants and creators. Finalize the draft with a professional look to enhance the work of the students.
