Translate a series of materials from the Movement Strategy to increase the accessibility and inclusion of the Lusophone community and increase their autonomy. Especially materials that can broaden the possibility of the emergence of projects aligned with the Strategy.

    The translation of 20 000 words for the Movement Strategy pages and materials, including the pre-selected list below:

Note: This current proposal was updated with the intent to reflect the immediate needs of the portuguese community. This list is the result of conversations with the MS|G and, specially, with the portuguese Wikipedia editor behind the upcoming research with the community about their feedback on the Movement Strategy so far.

  1. If you are translating any materials or doing live translation, in what languages will you support these needs? Who will be responsible for doing the translations?
    Portuguese. I´ll be responsible for the translation work alone.
  2. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
    The Wikipedia.pt community is currently hosting discussions on the Implementation of the Movement Strategy and the impact, challenges and possibilities, of its initiatives on our community. The translation is therefore intended to facilitate understanding for all, especially those marginalized by language barriers. This work aims to increase the autonomy of the community and to broaden the participation and possibility of projects by users and groups who may feel discouraged by the constant use of the English language.

Budget[edit]

  • Compensation for translation-related work (including preparation, meeting facilitation time, debriefing, live translation time, translation work of documents and material):based on a 0,06 euros per word, (below the market 0,09) and based on 400 words being the average words per page (between 300 and 500).

About 20 000 words, in a 1.100,00 € total. (1.245,33 US$) Vídeo: 0,80 € min. 15 min: 12 € (13,5854 US$)

This amount should cover:

- the creation of a Glossary of basic terms as to ensure consistency of translations and be useful for others in the future - the translation of a pre-selected list of materials suggested previously in this project - plus an Additional 4 000 (something between 8 or 13 pages) remaining words to be assigned accordingly and within the time period of the translation project in any materials or key pieces of Movement Strategy itself that already exist or that will emerge until the closing date.

  • Online tools or services (subscription services for online meeting platforms): 0 US$
  • Small equipment costs (such as microphones, headsets, webcam, but not larger equipment such as laptops, computers, or tablets): 0 US$
  • Other: All needs have been budgeted using per-word value estimation.
