Grants:Project/Rapid/AfroCine Contest Mozambique 2021
Overview
[edit]What is the main objective of your proposal?
- The main objective of this proposal is incentivize students and writer in Emakhuwa to produce knowledge about Mozambican artist in cinema, whether alive or dead to serve as reference on Wikipedia
What are the main challenges you are trying to solve and your proposed solution?
- Mozambique has many actors and artists in general. Nowadays, there are so many films produced in Mozambique but little is written about them whether on Wikipedia, which is a popular free content provider. The implementation of an AfroCine project will incentivize university students and writer to produce knowledge about these important people and material for cultural references. Mozambique has important names in the so calle seventh art, such as Inadelso de Cossa who believes that the country can be a decisive context for cinema production. Cossa, for instance, lives in Lisbon Portugal an film director who is know by very few people over here, even though is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Hollywood , north institution - American responsible for assigning Oscar. These type of personalities and their films can be used as reference for the youth to be inspired in pursuing Arts in general and Cinematography in particular. Mozambique, just like other African countries, very few people work in the cinema industry and those who work over there are not known. Taking into account Wikipedia is one of the most relevant free content provider, more Mozambican citizens could be motivated to join this industry if they only had role models life stories.
Also, with the just concluded AfroCuration event by Moleskine Foundation in Mozambique, it would be a great way to keep the new Makhuwa editors engaged in sharing free knowledge on Wikipedia.
