Learning

[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?

In general, the project went on so well ,though it was organized for its first time, a lot of efforts were needed in order to meet the target results. Deliberate mobilization was done and as result we managed to meet the project goals.

  • What did not work so well?

Since most participants were new to Wikimedia related contests such as Wiki Loves Earth, it was uneasy to make people understand the rationale of their participation. Most participants being knew, convincing them to submit their photos in the public domain was a bit hectic, but we believe that as the time goes on , they will understand the impact of their participation in the knowledge creation. last but not the least we had a difficulty in reaching out to participants especially those whose photos had issues such as missing coordinates, description and captions that did not match what their files depicted, and those whose uploads made it among the top 10 pictures.

  • What would you do differently next time?

Next time, we plan to deliberately teach people about linking their personal email to their Wikimedia project accounts to receive notifications easily and faster and regular check up on the Wikipedia notification tab to avoid missing out urgent information.
