Learning[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?
    • The partnership with the Nigerian Library and Information Science Students` Association, Ambrose Alli University Chapter, ensured the recruitment of volunteers was easy and stress-free. The association also helped in Wikipedia editing awareness creation within the University Campus.
    • The presence of some key staff of the Department of Library and Information Science during the training added colour and more value to the training.
  • What did not work so well?

We had several challenges which limited the overall success of this project. For Instance, some of the recruited participants were unable to create their Wikipedia Account on their own because of IP blocks. Even many of the participants who were trained could not make edits or participate in the edit-a-thon because they experienced several IP blocks for no fault of theirs. During the training, the IP of the internet router that was being used for training was blocked and this almost destabilized the organizers.

Aside the blocked IP issue, there was the challenge of poor network during the training.

  • What would you do differently next time?
    • Get back up network in the event of an IP Block
    • Consider the strength of network while choosing venue for subsequent events.

Remaining funds[edit]

Do you have any remaining grant funds?

Remaining funds have been used or will be used for other approved mission-aligned activities. This use has been requested in writing and approved by WMF.
Yes. I have USD 24 left. I propose the remaining grant fund be deducted from my next project.

Anything else[edit]

Anything else you want to share about your project?

I would appreciate it if I can be placed on IP Block exempt. I would have done it long ago if I knew how to go about it.
