Project Plan        Edit

Activities              Edit

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

We will organise 3 editathons. With the technical support of Wikipedia contributors, AKOSuDA (Advocacy for Knowledge Outreach and Sustainable Development for All) a non-for-profit organisation, headquartered in Buea Fako), will organise 3 editathons, from 1 April 2022 to 30th June 2022, creating awareness of the fact that humans also have a right to a healthy environment and digital publishing of pictures and videos that show plastic pollution on the theme Plastic pollution in the Fako Division of Cameroon. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, each edit-a-thon will have 9 persons respecting the stipulations of at least 2 meters/6 feet, with no close personal contact or sharing food and computers. Teaching methods will integrate online facilities and tutorials.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.

You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

We shall share the links on our wiki pages such as Wikilovesearth, wikiloveswomen, lingualibre in order to keep fellow wikipedians informed. We shall also make use of all AKOSuDA’s social handles (Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) to raise awareness and engage the community thereby bringing them on board. This project is one which will continue after the first phase, in an effort to document plastic pollution in all divisions of the South West region of Cameroon in order to raise awareness and to call on the community to know that humans have rights to a healthy environment and to make peace with this environment.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?

They will be informed on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.

For example: User:I JethroBT

User: Akopoly and User: Eugene233

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

We hope to buy equipment and books to help contributors engage, learn,  participate and produce high quality content.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

Organize a contribution campaign; award contributor with highest number of contributions

Set up monitoring processes to improve contributions

Dissemination of results

Mobilise volunteers to contribute.

7. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

In order to reduce COVID-19 risk, restricted measures are planned:

All events will have 7 to 9 contributors.

The event will never violate the Cameroonian government restrictions and health guidance related to COVID-19.

The editing training and activities will respect social distancing (2 meters/6 feet) with no close personal contact or sharing food and materials like computers

For all 3 sessions the participants will make a one-day activity (come and back home the same day).

Training methods will greatly use online skills and tutorials.

8. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

The global activities will be:
