Goals[edit]

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went? Yes i did as it was super succesful

The training was a success and everyone was excited to have learned how to contribute to Wikipedia and the benefits it offered them as creators. Some of the things I learned from this particular training are:

    • Most other states in Nigeria apart from Lagos, are yet to know more about Wikipedia. Most of the trainees were good content creators, yet they have not learnt about Wikipedia. They felt like they have been living under a rock. All the content creators trained were excited and couldn't wait to signup.
    • Languages are really important in Wikipedia as many of them were already asking how to introduce Wikipedia to their language speaking audience to which we told them that they can make contributions in their various languages on Wikipedia. They were really happy that they contribute to Yoruba being the language spoken in Ibadan.

Learning[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?
    • Partnership with Sheda House proved effective and productive.
    • The attendees were at the venue at the appropriate time.
    • There was a backup Generator when the power was cut off.
    • The caterers were already prepared before we stepped into the hall it was exciting.
    • We were able to project the training from a very big screen which brought clarity to the audience
  • What did not work so well?
    • Most of the trainees couldn't come with their computer systems and hence slowed us down as some of them could not afford it and preferred to use their phones instead.
    • Some of the people who were supposed to come for the training asked to join online through zoom as there was no budget for that so we could not include them.
    • Lot of participants couldn't edit as their IP was blocked.
  • What would you do differently next time?
    • I will extend the training to those who can't afford to make it to the venue so they can join us online since people are interested in the training that much but some couldn't make it to them because of how big Ibadan is.
    • I will keep augmenting the laptops Because I noticed that majority of internet users prefer to use their phones to work, so until most systems are simplified further to accommodate phone use, I will have to keep them.
    • I will increase awareness campaigns before training since the majority of people are not yet familiar with Wikipedia.
    • I will keep including non-content creators in my training, it has proved to educate them.
