Goals[edit]

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

No, outcomes of the contest did not reach our expectations. The contest left us with only about half of what we originally set out to achieve.

Outcome[edit]

Please report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.

Target outcome Achieved outcome Explanation
Number of participants 7 The contest attracted only 7 out of 14 expected participants, i.e. in this respect, we achieved 50 % rate of success. We noticed low interests to take part in the contest among Slovak Wikipedia users.
Number of articles created: 86 41 As a result of the contest, only 41 out of 86 expected articles were created, i.e. in this respect, we achieved 48 % rate of success. The main reason lies within the low number of participants and, in general terms, in decreasing interest of Slovak Wikipedia participants to take part in an article writing contest.

Learning[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?

The Fountain tool proved itself to be useful for judging the articles.

  • What did not work so well?

We were not able to deploy targeted advertisement social media campaign in time to possibly attract new users to Slovak Wikipedia.

  • What would you do differently next time?

We would like to focus our efforts on more promotion and media exposure with special focus to reach the audience outside of Wikimedia community. We would also improve organizational coordination.

Remaining funds[edit]

Do you have any remaining grant funds?

We spent 543.26 out of 700.00 Euros projected in the grant proposal budget (i.e. 78 %). This means the remaining funds constitute 156.74 Euros which should probably revert back to the original StartUp grant.
