Learning

[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?

Our collaborations with the groups thus; Women Trust Ghana,Global Platform Ghana and Youth Opportunities Ghana were astonishing. We are very excited to share that one head teacher had already edited Wikipedia previously so it was easy to have his assistance in training the young girls during the workshop. Also, all other teachers joined throughout the programs start till completion.

Also, we had very enthusiastic young female students between the ages of 13-17 years who showed interest in having more such events to build their research skills before going to the University. Some even joined the training right after their normal classes were over. It was evident that they later got interested and eager to learn more about the other Wikimedia Sister project.

  • What did not work so well?

Since a quarter of participants were virtual, some did not sign up to the dashboard hence their edits were not recorded. Also, we had a challenge with IP addresses during the event which caused a lot of difficulties during the first two meetings.

  • What would you do differently next time?

To expand the scope of the project to other deprived areas or regions.
