Goals[edit]

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

  • Yes we managed to meet and exceed our target number of images we wanted to have for this photo contest.

Outcome[edit]

Please report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.

Target outcome Achieved outcome Explanation
400 435 images and about 15 participants who entered the competition We had old and new participants which made it easier for contributors to teach other how to upload images.

Learning[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?
    • Two photowalks were possible this helped give motivation to the participants to capture images.
    • Calling and reminding them to come for the uploading sessions.
    • Social media campaigning about Wiki Loves Africa project
    • Assisted those who wanted to upload images with Airtime/Data bundles to upload individually due to lock down restrictions.
  • What did not work so well?
    • Poor internet connection
    • We had multiple lock downs happening hence this limited the movements for participants who wanted to attend photo walks and upload images in the lab.
  • What would you do differently next time?
    • Use more social media / or have a Facebook live presentation on how to enter the competition so that those who missed the session can always revisit
    • Try a different schools to host Wiki Loves Africa to expand reach.
