Goals

[edit]

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

We met some of our goals and we are happy how the project went.

Outcome

[edit]

Please report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.

Target outcome Achieved outcome Explanation
Number of participants: 100 More than 30 people participated This metrics is difficult to accurately measured because there is no tool available for measuring this metrics. However, we trained more than 20 photographers, and about 10 people were involved with using the images on Wikipedia articles during our images-use-a-thon.
Number of photos uploaded to Wikimedia Commons: 500+ More than 700 photos were uploaded, from which more than 300 were properly categorized We created our campaign page (Wiki Loves Folklore 2022 in Nigeria) for monitoring and tracking of contributions. This was promoted among participants (including the photographers we trained), and our social media handles. More than 300 photos were uploaded via our page, and hundreds of photos were uploaded via the international contest page .
Number of photos used on Wikimedia projects (wikipedia, wikidata) 200 More than 50 photos were used on Yoruba Wikipedia Image uses were focused only on Yoruba Wikipedia. Many of the images collected were not relevant to the available articles.

Learning

[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?
  1. Our project page worked well.
  2. Timely disbursement of fund by the WMF
  3. The training for photographers
  • What did not work so well?
  1. The broad theme of "Folklore" does not work well, and many of the images may not be realistically useful as there exists fewer contents relating to folklores, especially on small language Wikipedia.
  2. No effective tracking tools to monitor participants, and for tracking in cases where there are multiple organizers of the contest in the same country
  • What would you do differently next time?
  1. We will engage the international organisers on their plans for tracking the total number of participants, and effective plan for tracking in cases where there are multiple organizers of the contest in the same country
