Goals
[edit]Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went? The goals were partly met. Yes, i am happy to see how the project go.
Outcome
[edit]Please report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.
Target outcome | Achieved outcome | Explanation |
Number of event=2 | 2 | Yes,we reached our target. |
Number of participants=25 | 16 editors | Many interested participants were discouraged from using Quickstatement to import photos into Wikidata because it required a minimum of 50 edits to use the device. |
Number of new editors= 10 | Nil | We observed that the project didn't include training, so, many of the newbies that have shown interest couldn't be involved in the project. |
Number of photos to be used on Wikidata= 1000 | 410 Photos and video | We achieved 40% contribution because of the participants do not have minimum edits require to import data to to Wikidat |
Number of repeat participants (for projects that include a series of events)=15 | 15 repeat participants | We achieved 40% contribution because of the participants do not have minimum edits require to import data to to Wikidat |
Learning
[edit]Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well? The initiative seems new to the community and so a lot wanted to experience see here
- What did not work so well?
- Collation of data used by participants on Wikidata wasart done manually by the organiser. Because it was difficult to track the number of photos used on Wikidata from the outreach dashboard.
- There is no tool to filter Wikidata items or Wikimedia commons for items without photos. The process was done manually.
- Many of the relevant images on commons do not have Wiki data items. We, therefore, need to create new Wikidata items before we can use the photos on Wikidata.
- What would you do differently next time?
We need to request for a tool that can help to filter wikidata for items that needs photos that are available on Wikimedia commons.
