Learning Story & changes[edit]

It has been a revealing experience to have a Data Advisor, we instituted a monthly Wikidata course that had little acceptance, the wikidatic community is small and shows no signs of growth. On the other hand, the functions of working with databases through OpenRefine did not bear fruit either, since the grantee institutions have taken a long time to release them and to be able to make substantial charges, so this position was reduced to creating links to Wikidata from our edit-a-thons and editatonas, which considerably reduces the functionality of this position. We decided to summon a person to be in charge of Community Support, monitoring events, metrics, logistics and management, considering the number of events we have in our plan. With that said, our Staffing Plan is:

Executive Director[edit]

Hours: Full time (40 hours per week). Reports to: Board of Directors of Wikimedia Mexico Reports: Monthly, semi-annual and annual. Purpose of this position: Planning and execution of projects and activities.

Tasks:[edit]

  • Design, coordination and execution of Wikimedia México projects.
  • With the support of the Community Officer, execution of events.
  • Purchases.
  • Effective execution of planned activities in financial and human resources matters.
  • Advise the Board of Directors in decision-making, as well as in the definition of activities.
  • Continuity in the execution of the strategic plan of Wikimedia Mexico in the short and medium term.
  • Development and execution of a campaign to increase the number of volunteers for Wikimedia Mexico.
  • Monitoring of the grant process and accounting.
  • Actively and logistically represent the chapter and stakeholders.
  • Write reports and evaluations for the Board of Directors and the members of the chapter.

Education Officer[edit]

Hours: Full time (40 hours per week). Reports to: Executive Director. Reports: Monthly. Purpose of this position: Planning and execution of the education program.

Tasks:[edit]

  • Design and implement the Wikimedia México Education Program.
  • Design proposals to work with students and teachers of different educational levels.
  • Follow up on courses with educational institutions, as well as editing articles.
  • Establish strategic alliances.
  • Coordination of activities (workshops, courses and editatones), with educational alliances.
  • Design of educational materials.
  • Design of online courses, as well as their deployment and evaluation.
  • Organize, in conjunction with the Executive Director, the Education Meeting.
  • Evaluation and production of results reports including reports to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.

Communications Officer[edit]

Hours: Part time (20 hours a week). Reports to: Executive Director. Monthly reports. Purpose of this position: Strategic planning of the chapter's communication needs.

Tasks:[edit]

  • Strategic planning of the communication needs of the chapter:
  1. Design and editing of graphics and videos for social networks.
  2. Categorization of multimedia files in Wikimedia Commons.
  3. Updating and creation of posts on the Wikimedia Mexico blog.
  4. Real-time coverage of Wikimedia Mexico events with testimonials, photos, videos and social media updates.
  5. Management of social networks.
  • Coordination of communication activities: Management of social networks (content and publication), website and media contacts.
  • Look for opportunities in the media:
  1. With recognized means to raise awareness about Wikipedia.
  2. Create a Wikipedia project for journalists related to fake news and disinformation.
  • Design and development of a byweekly podcast about Wikipedia and Free Culture.
  • Document and follow up on publications related to Wikimedia Mexico and Wikipedia in the media.
  • Write the respective monthly reports for the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.

Community Support Officer[edit]

Hours: Part time (20 hours a week) Reports to: Executive Director. Monthly reports. Purpose of this position: Strategic planning of the chapter's community support needs.

Tasks:[edit]

Design, implementation and monitoring of all the events of the chapter. Support in the implementation of courses, editatones and conferences. Support in the implementation of networks, alliances and relationships among other chapters. Track event metrics. Write the corresponding reports to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.

Gender Officer[edit]

Hours: Part time (20 hours a week) Reports to: Executive Director. Monthly reports. Purpose of this position: Planning and execution of the Gender Program.

Tasks:[edit]

  • Coordination of activities (talks, workshops and editatonas), about gender and free knowledge, face-to-face meetings and virtual events.
  • Responsible for Editatona, including providing help and support to participants in terms of digital security.
  • Search for strategic alliances and agreements.
  • Document activities organized in Mexico and Latin America.
  • Write the corresponding reports to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.

Accounting advisor[edit]

Professional who advises on accounting issues and is in charge of all procedures related to taxes in the Tax Administration System of Mexico. Reports to: Executive Director. Monthly reports.

Tasks[edit]

  • Monthly tax report to Mexican authorities.
  • Accounting assistant.
  • Recollection of receipts and creation of a fiscal archive.
  • Calculation of taxes.
  • Contact with banks.
  • Help with finance planning.
