Proposed participation
[edit]I am Abhinand N and I have been involved in MediaWiki community since Aug 2015. I have worked on extension EditNotify with Yaron Koren as my mentor. I have also been Google Code-In 2016 mentor for Wikimedia foundation. I have also taken a session on "Introduction to MediaWiki" at FUDCon'16 held in Cambodia.
Goal and expected impact
[edit]FOSSASIA is a famous open source conference across ASIA and an opportunity to share knowledge and experience about open source technologies and meet other contributors. My primary goal would be to represent Wikimedia Foundation and give a talk on "Getting started with MediaWiki". The main scope of the talk would be on:
- how to start contributing to MediaWiki
- introduce the bug tracker and report/select bugs
- explain the code-review process.
Budget breakdown
[edit]- Travel (round trip airfare from Kochi to Singapore): USD 180
- Accommodation: USD 75 per night x 4 nights = USD ~ 300
- Local Transport & expenses = USD ~ 70
- Visa: USD 30
- Speaker Ticket for the event = SGD 370 (USD 260)
- Accommodation: USD 75 per night x 4 nights = USD ~ 300
- Total: 1140 USD
Other instructions
[edit]I won't be able to cover all my travel expenses so therefore I would need some financial aid before the event. It would be great if I can get advance disbursed.
