Proposed participation

At the FORCE2017 Research Communication and e-Scholarship Conference scientists, publishers, librarians, educators, and others discuss the way in which scholarly and scientific information is communicated and shared. The stated goal of the conference is «to create new partnerships and collaborations and support implementation of ideas generated at the conference and subsequent working groups». With my participation in this conference, I want to bring a Wikimedian point of view to these discussions, furthermore, this will advance my research in the field of the impact of Wikipedia on scholarly publications.

Goal and expected impact

I am Ph.D. student at the University of Trento (my academic page) and I am doing research about the impact of scholarly publication on Wikipedia.

Participating in this conference I can:

1. interact with other researchers and scientists in the field of bibliometry and bring a focus on Wikipedia
2. ask for the release of bibliographic datasets from publishers

Budget breakdown

• Registration (student fee): EUR 200
• Travel (round trip airfare from Milan to Berlin): EUR 88.28
• Travel (ticket for public transport in Berlin): EUR 6.80
• Accommodation: EUR 50 per night x 3 nights + booking fee = EUR 174.19

Total: EUR 469,27
