Outcome[edit]

Option 1: Shared Experience: What is one way you shared something from your experience with your community (either locally or globally), after the event?

As I am still waiting for the minutes of my meeting with the WMF Community Engagement (Product) department from a WMF contractor, I could not inform the German community on the progress of the GlobalUserMerge tool which is planned as my main report on the 2015 Wikimania. ~~I will add this link as soon as I could publish my report.~~ Now published. Nevertheless, I was mainly involved in the unification of all accounts on Wikimedia wikis (see WMF Q3 report, page 33) and therefore proposed a talk on this SUL finalization at our annual WikiConvention that will rely on Kunal's talk at Wikimania. As almost no submissions will be rejected at our WikiCon, I will most likely be able to give the audience an impression of this success story of WMF staff in good cooperation with highly active volunteers.

Option 2: Learning Pattern: What is one useful learning pattern you can share with the Wikimedia movement?

I learned that the Global metrics were amended by a Learning question that will fit much better to the kind of Outreach work I focus on (see my scholarship submission) than the mere numbers of active participants, bytes added or the like. That will also improve my online and offline work in terms of the Evaluation of Education projects.
Nevertheless, I don't consider Wikimania a place where WMF tells me how to improve my work as they are much less involved than, say, Wikimedia Deutschland on whose reporting criteria I have to rely on (which knowingly depends on WMF criteria too) and much much less than fellow contributors. Hence, I prefer to learn from these, my fellow Wikimedians, how to improve my content related work. Wikimania should shift its focus back to the roots of our projects where we learn from each other instead of becoming an event where staff members who (mostly) never edited Wikimedia projects as intensively as me or my fellow Wikimedians try to teach us how to improve better our contents when we obviously know that much better than they do from a practical point of view. It had been even more strange if I haven't had been involved in any WMF activity at all and had been just a regular Wikipedia editor. Listen to our needs and help us achieve our goals instead of vice versa.

Option 3: New Creation: What was one useful outcome that was created at the event for the Wikimedia movement?

As mentioned before, we are currently discussing the progress of the GlobalUserMerge tool (github) as part of the great SUL finalization initiative. This tool will affect hundreds to thousands of users as SUL finalization did for millions.
