Wikidata and the French Wikipedia
Outcome[edit]
I live-tweeted my Wikimania experience in French during the event and used Storify to keep my tweets in order. A meeting with others French users is scheduled in September, when everyone is back from holidays.
I learnt many things but if I have to choose only one thing, it probably will be the new lua infoboxes I created with user:Kvardek du which use data from Wikidata: fr:Modèle:Infobox Lieu de fiction (and fr:Modèle:Infobox Planète (Star Wars), fr:Modèle:Infobox Ville des Royaumes oubliés, fr:Modèle:Infobox Région des Royaumes oubliés, fr:Modèle:Infobox Planète fictive, fr:Modèle:Infobox Lieu de fiction (bande dessinée)...). We worked to facilitate the use of Wikidata on Wikipedia articles, with diffusing maintenance categories like fr:Catégorie:Page utilisant des données de Wikidata à traduire. We did more in a weeks than in the preceding months!
Connections[edit]
It was really great discussing in real life with the Wikidata developing team and the Wikidata meetup was very productive. I'm happy to have encountered people who convinced me to use Flow for my talk pages (I wouldn't have done it without Wikimania). I also participated in the translathon only because user:Trizek asked me to. I thanks the Canadian contributors who promised to help me have photographs of en:mushers and sled dog for my Wikiproject on the subject. I hope to be able to do some interviews for Wikinews this winter.
Anything else[edit]
As I don't have yet an internet connexion stable enough to import my photos on Commons, I've not done it right now but I hope to do so in the following weeks. I have approximatively one hundred photos. Kvardek du and myself are still working on our infoboxes. I participated in the Wikidata Q&A. Wikimania was really great for me because I learnt many things, I meet for the first time people I worked with since several years and will probably work with some new people in the future years. It was my first Wikimania and I didn't have any problem with my wheelchair, everyone helped me get around and that rare and great. So thanks you!
