summaryI will be asking big questions to understand usable commons, future of commons and spheres of open. The Global Summit will provide a collaborative and fun space for anyone in the world to explore the future of the Commons and sharing for users, creators, and activists. We will shift the narrative from CC-licensed content to the community that both creates and promotes the value of the Commons. In the process, we will not only strengthen our current network, but expand our reach — growing the movement for a more vibrant, usable, and collaborative Commons centered on the people that make it possible.

Proposed participation[edit]

I will be joining this years' Creative Commons Global Summit in Toronto,Canada in order to best understand, connect and network with key resources on the theme and workshop sessions. I have the project intention of helping training Ghanaian Art students to embrace the need and use of Creative Commons as well as promoting more local content (on Artists) on Wikipedia and other sister networks. I am particularly intrigued to seek more knowledge and clarity on usable commons, future of commons and spheres of open. This event will help me achieve these goals.

Goal and expected impact[edit]

  • Promote the use of creative commons among art students in tertiary schools across Ghana
  • Seek more clarity and understanding on usable commons, future of commons and spheres of open
  • Establish network with other project leaders to learn best practices

  • $ 400 (Return flight from Accra to Toronto)

Travel Insurance:

  • Giving Mawuli this grant to participate in the conference will enable him to learn more and share with the members of the local Wikimedia Ghana User Group and this will help improve contents shared on creative commons. I Myraclera (talk) 8:28,22 March 2017 (UTC) endorse him.
  • Mawuli is on the path of becoming a great advocate for activities of creative commons. I believe granting him this proposal will propel him to higher heights and expose him to more knowledge. This i believe will enhance his work in his space. Nathaniel Alpha (talk) 08:31, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
