Grants:TPS/Venuslui/London International Conference on Education 2017
This had been a submission to the Wikimedia Participation Support process, but was withdrawn or otherwise cancelled (not denied).
I am a member of Wikipedia Education Collaborative, and I have been working on Wikipedia Education Program for about 4 years. I have had a submission accepted at this Education Conference, where I will be speaking about the Wikipedia Education Program as teaching tools for tertiary education, and its feasibility and effectiveness for open education. At the same time, it will be a great opportunity for me to encourage more scholars to join the Wikipedia Education Program, to share their knowledge with the community.
Goal and expected impact
As a result of my presentation, everyone in the audience will become aware the Wikipedia Education program, and will perhaps join the program as well. I will show the audience that the advantages of the Wikipedia Education Program, and perhaps it will make them reconsider prejudices about Wikipedia in general. Hopefully, 25-30 people will sign up for the education mailing list by the end of the conference, and I will follow up with them once a month after the event. At the same time, I will collect the email addresses from the people who show their interest in the Education Program at the event, and will try to contact them for the further discussion, to talk about how they can have the Wikipedia Education Program at their institutes. I will provide a proposal with the details about the Education Program to them if necessary.
I will upload the powerpoint I am going to use at the event and pictures on Commons. I will also write an article for the Education Newsletter after the event.
