Proposed participation

[edit]

I am an open culture / public domain activist. Recently we realized a coup to overcome restrictions on data of cultural heritage. (Nefertiti Hack) Hence, I am highly interested in open infrastructures to provide open access culture Institutions (GLAM) in cooperation with Wikimedia. I will be giving a talk of 20 min. Thereby I will point out ideas of public domain for open culture. In the second half we will talk about of infrastructures, discuss WikiGLAM and strategies to reclaim the museum an public space. We hope to be able to improve our conception by the perspective of people at FOSSASIA.

Goal and expected impact

[edit]

As a result of my talk, I expect to encourage some fellows FOSSASIA to discuss further these ideas. We hope to find synergies with other projects. UNESCO will be part of FOSSASIA, hence, we hope to meet them in order to discuss our ideas and get feedback. We expect to activate the artifact at FOSSASIA and raise awareness on the issue of open culture and win more people to become active within their community.

Budget breakdown

[edit]
  • Travel (round trip airfare from Berlin to Singapore): EUR 800,-
  • Accommodation: EUR 80,- per night x 3 nights = EUR 240,-
  • Local Expense : EUR 80 (20 per day)
  • Community Ticket: EUR 35
  • Total: 800,- + 240,- + 80,- + 35 EUR = EUR 1155,-

The funds I don’t spent will be returned. We were invited recently and short dated, so we hope it will be possible to receive the funding.

Other instructions

[edit]

Cause it is short dated I will book the flight and hotel by my own.

I will be giving the talk together with my partner Nora. It is a collaborative effort and that is why we are planning to present as a collective. If the committee will only provide funding for one speaker, please let us know asap, so we have the chance to acquirer the missing funding. Thanks. She and I work togher on several Project and lately on nefertitihack [http://nefertitihack.alloversky.com].

  • Mario Behling Please support Nora. She is a key contributor to free knowledge and is doing important work to engage contributors in related Wikipedia articles as well.
  • FOSSAsia is a great community driven free and open source event that has been around for a few years and have always been seen as a great avenue for diverse ideas and people to meet, engage and grow the commons. So if Nikolai can be at FOSSAsia, I am sure we will be enriched with the sharing. Harishpillay (talk) 03:13, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
