Proposed participation[edit]

I'm a member of Wikimedia India Chapter for past 3 year and currently I serve on board of Wikimedia India as a treasurer. I'll be presenting a session on how to raise more awareness about the Creative Commons amongst government and educational institutes.

Goal and expected impact[edit]

Most of the Asian-Pacific countries do not have derivative rights like in US so creative commons helps in bridging the gap with tailor made licences. However, awareness about CC licenses is a major challenge in these countries. I plan to propose a sessions & engage in discussions about raising more awareness about the CC licenses with government and educational institutes which would benefit the movement in long run. I’ll be actively participating in all the planning sessions where I’ll be representing the Indian Community and discuss how we can expand the CC community & work with synonymous affiliates. I also plan to share the learnings and previous experiences on working with the Wikimedia projects like Wiki Loves Food and other GLAM project in India with fellow attendees. Additionally, I also hope to rope in more volunteers from Seoul and encourage them to collaborate & volunteer with Wikimedia in building cross-community outreach projects.

Budget breakdown[edit]

  • Visa fees: USD 100
  • Travel: USD 1500
  • Accommodation: Booked by Creative Commons
  • Meals (dinner x 4 nights) and incidentals USD 50 x 4 days: USD 200
  • Transport (local transport from airport to hotel and conference hall): USD 100

Other instructions[edit]

I would like WMF to disburse the above expenses. Accommodation in Seoul will be taken care by CC South Korea. I'll be providing all the necessary receipts and vouchers if required. I'll also be submitting a detailed report once I'm back home.
