Outcome

[edit]

Shared Experience: What is one way you shared something from your experience with your community (either locally or globally), after the event?

I've written two articles on my personal blog sharing my experience related to OpenStreetMap at Wikimania and elsewhere in London:

New Creation: What was one useful outcome that was created at the event for the Wikimedia movement?

I met up with several people from Wikimedia chapters and communities in Asia (China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Thailand) and one result of our numerous casual meetings and discussons is the idea of holding a small regional conference for East and Southeast Asia Wikimedians. This conference idea is being supported by Anna Koval from the Wikimedia Foundation.

Connections

[edit]

I guess the most interesting connections I made were from meeting several people from the OpenStreetMap community as a result of giving my presentation on August 9 (see my first blog post linked above for details).

As mentioned above, I also met several Asian Wikimedians and we are hoping to hold a regional conference. It was also a great opportunity to have met Anna Koval from the Wikimedia Foundation so that she can support my chapter's efforts with starting the Wikipedia Education Program. I was great finally meeting Alex Wang of the WMF Grantmaking team.

Anything else

[edit]

My presentation slides are already uploaded in Commons. I also took lots of photos during the conference and I plan to upload most of them (the presentable ones!) under the "Wikimania 2014 photos by seav" category in Commons.
