  • I, a student at Aminu Kano College of Education in Funtua, intend to arrange an initiative aimed at educating my fellow students on how to actively participate in Wikipedia. The main goals of this endeavor are to promote awareness about Wikipedia and its related projects.

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

I want to teach my fellow college students how to help improve Wikipedia. We'll have a one-day training session led by A Salisu for female participants and Hamza DK to guide us, as he's experienced with Wikipedia editing. I'll make sure everyone stays informed before, during, and after the event.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

The participants will primarily be informed through phone calls and face-to-face interactions, with some also receiving information via WhatsApp as well as class announcement.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse your proposal as proof of availability)

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

They all have smartphones

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

I will engage them via Funtua Wikimedia Community WhatsApp group and Collect Community WhatsApp Group

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

I have applied in the previous cycle, but due to the limitations of monthly funds, it was not funded and I was advised to re submit it in this cycle.

Impact[edit]

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:

  1. Number of events - 1
  2. Number of participants - 20
  3. Number of new editors - 15
  4. Number of of articles created or improved - 100
  5. Number of repeat participants (for projects that include a series of events)

  1. Event hall= N30,000×1=30,000
  2. Food and refreshments for participants=N2000×20=N40,000
  3. Event banner and Flyers= N20,000.
  4. Data support for participants =N1500×20=30,000
  5. Transportation and accommodation for one facilitator = 30,000
  6. Contingency 20,000
  • Total amount=N170,000.
