Grants:Wikimedia UG Nigeria Grants/Wikimedia User Group Nigeria Community Support Fund/Building the repositories of sectors in Anambra State for knowledge and sustained data

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Project summary[edit]

Briefly summarize your project proposal.

This is the recording and documentation of public places on Wikidata, a repository anyone can edit and use for knowledge. It aims to document the data on the available knowledge on Ministries, Department, and Agencies (MDAs) in Anambra State government as well as the streets, markets, and the organizations that operate within the stipulated guidelines of the State. The MDAs, streets, and markets seem to be missing in Wikidata, thus, need to be documented. These are visible government parastatals, markets, and streets that contribute to the development of the people and the economy. Thus, their missing out on Wikidata can be seen as an indication of exclusion of important sectors, as well as not providing authentic and accurate data of the state mechanisms' documented learning.

There will be one in-person and one virtual training for the event. It will last for 2 weeks and the highest 5 contributors will be awarded. This activity will open the knowledge and bridge the content gap on Wikidata by creating articles and documenting every available information on the sectors. It will add to the created repositories, build the capacities of the participants, and increase the number of participants in WUGN. It will also create opportunities for collaboration with the MDAs and, the other organizations in the state.

Strong support Strong support This project is a good one, it is another opportunity to document areas as well as adding their cordinate locations on Wikidata involving the open street map. Many MDAs in Anambra State lack visibility and this project is a great opportunity to create their visibility. Akwugo (talk) 09:45, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
