  • The project aims to raise awareness about Wikipedia and provide Uburu's vibrant community, including its students and youths, with the skills needed to document and share their local cultures and knowledge on a global scale. Uburu, a dynamic city in Ebonyi State, is home to enthusiastic residents eager to preserve and disseminate their rich cultural heritage, but they currently lack access to a suitable platform. The project will employ a multi-faceted approach, including comprehensive awareness campaigns through various media channels and community events, hands-on training workshops to teach Wikipedia and Wikidata article creation and editing with a focus on local culture, history, and knowledge, and support for the accurate representation of Uburu's unique cultural heritage on Wikipedia and Wikidata also enhancing their digital skills.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. 3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

Participants will be informed about the edit-a-thon through social media, including whatsapp, Telegram, and community newsletters, as well as by engaging community leaders to spread about the within Uburu community.

Yes they have the digital skills and gadgets which includes phones and laptops.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

Engage participants post-event through our created whatsapp group for regular updates, and collaborative projects to sustain their involvement and contributions. Editors will join as community members of Wikimedia User Group Nigeria for future and upcoming Wiki events.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This project has the potential to empower the Uburu community by preserving their cultural heritage, promoting digital literacy, and connecting them to the global knowledge-sharing community through Wikipedia.
