  • This project (Hausa Wikipedia Article Writing Contest) aimed at creating articles for notable individuals who do not currently have representation on Hausa Wikipedia. We believe that this project aligns with our shared commitment to knowledge dissemination, public engagement, and the promotion of notable figures from diverse backgrounds.

Furthermore, we will engage editors from Hausa community to contribute their knowledge and expertise in creating articles about notable individuals who are currently absent from Hausa Wikipedia. This project will focus on identifying and documenting the accomplishments, contributions, and stories of underrepresented individuals who have made significant impacts in various fields but have not been recognized on the world's largest online encyclopedia.

Activities

We are doing 2 online trainings and 3 weeks article writing contest.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

We will let our participants know about This project on our discussion Page and social media platforms.


3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

I will create and communicate with them through user:talk and social media channels

We have our social media platforms where we follow community members up.

This project will help increase the contribution of Hausa community members

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:

  4. Number of of articles created or improved 200
  5. Number of repeat participants (for projects that include a series of events)

How do you plan to track your project metrics? We will use outreach dashboard in tracking our Edits.

Internet data support for the participants and facilitators N1500 per person for two online events = N45,000

Prizes for top 5 contributors N80,000
