  • Alma'arif College of Nursing Sciences recognizes the importance of digital literacy and research skills in the academic and professional development of its community. This Wikipedia Awareness and Training Program intends to empower students with the ability to critically engage with online information, contribute to the world's largest knowledge repository, and foster a culture of open collaboration.

  4. Enhance research skills by utilizing Wikipedia as a reliable resource and teaching tool.

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

One online training and one day physical editathon

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

I'll let them know through WhatsApp platform.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

Social media platforms like WhatsApp Group, and we will communicate with students union representatives of the school.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse your proposal as proof of availability)

Yes, they have their smart phones, they'll used them.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

Participants will be engaged after the event through a WhatsApp group that will be created for all who will take part in the project.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

The students of Alma'arif School of Nursing Sciences is well endowed with intellectuals, most of which have no idea of Wikipedia editing and its proper usage. This project is aimed at bridging this knowledge gap, thereby creating an avenue for the optimum usage of the Wikipedia platform by the students as well as enriching Wikipedia with more useful and reliable content.

  • Generator and fueling = ₦15,000
  • Transport for organizers = ₦2,000
  • Contingency = ₦20,000
