  • The "Community Workshops for Aspiring Editors in Kano" project aims to develop a local community of Wikipedia editors through hands-on workshops. These workshops will train participants in Wikipedia editing, emphasizing guidelines, source verification, and neutrality. The project will focus on enhancing content related to Kano's culture and history, empowering participants to contribute effectively and enrich the representation of Kano on Wikipedia.

Training and edit-a-thon (for two days)

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

I have let them know through Whatsapp group of Hausa Wikimedians User Group.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

I will let them know through social media channels, phone call, emails and SMS messages.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead/assist the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse and sign your proposal as proof of availability)

Yes, they have equipment and skills and other supportive devices which will help them to participate and contribute a high quality content.

WhatsApp group chat will be created for engagement the participants.

I will use WMF outreach dashboard.

I Ibrahim Sani Mustapha will lead the project as an organizer with help of Gwanki as a facilitator.

What resources do you need? For your funding request, list bullet points for each expense and include a total amount.

  1. Events hall for two days: N40,000×2=80,000.
  2. Banner and tags: N20,000.
  3. Food and refreshments of participants for two days: 2,000×20=N40,000×2=N80,000.
  4. Branded Tshirts for organizer and Facilitator: M5,000×2=10,000.
  5. Contingency: N20,000.

Total amount: N210,000
