  • The project proposal aims to organize a Wikipedia training and edit-a-thon event in Shanono Local Government. The project will provide training on Wikipedia editing and host a collaborative editing session to create and improve articles related to the local area. The goals include promoting digital literacy, increasing local representation on Wikipedia, and preserving regional knowledge. The project will cover event costs and technical support. Ultimately, the project aims to empower participants, enhance community engagement, and foster a culture of collaborative knowledge sharing.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

We will let our participants to know about this project by announcing in WhatsApp group, sending an email and other social media channels.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse your proposal as proof of availability)

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Yes, the participants have their laptops Smart phones and other supportive devices which will help them to contribute a high quality content.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

The WhatsApp group will be created for the participants engagement after the events.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

Yes, I applied this project two times last months but due to monthly funding restrictions and the limit of not funding more than one application per state in a grant cycle, it was not funded and you asked me to submit another application in this month. This is your comment Here

How do you plan to track your project metrics?

I will use WMF outreach dashboard to track the metrics.

  1. Ibrahim Sani Mustapha, I am the project organizer and I will take the responsible for overseeing the project and ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with the grant proposal.
  2. A Sulaiman Z, he is responsible for coordinating the content creation process and ensuring that all articles are high quality and reliable.
  3. M Bash Ne, he is responsible for coordinating outreach activities and engaging with local organizations and community members to raise training about the project.

What resources do you need? For your funding request, list bullet points for each expense and include a total amount.

  1. Event's hall- N30,000.
  2. Food and refreshments for participants and facilitators-N1,500×23=N34,500.
  3. Event's banner -N15,000.
  4. Branded T-shirts for the organizer and facilitators-N5,000×3=N15,000.
  5. Contingency-N10,000.
