  • The annual Wiki Loves Africa campaign seeks to boost the volume and quality of African content on Wikipedia. By urging contributions such as photos, videos, and audio recordings around the theme "Africa creates," the campaign inspires people across the continent to capture creative works of Africans. This proposal aims to furnish resources facilitating the involvement of Imo State Network in this initiative.

  1. Raise awareness about Wiki Loves Africa and its initiatives.
  1. Attract and educate new editors through photo expeditions, upload sessions, and edit-a-thons.
  1. Encourage current editors to actively contribute to Commons and other affiliated projects.

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

We plan to organise a photowalk to a vocational center in Imo State, an edit-a-thon, and an online training session.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

We have informed the WNUG Community.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

We'll promote the campaign through our social media channels, including WhatsApp groups and Instagram. Effective communication strategies will be employed to ensure widespread awareness and engagement with the campaign.

DAY 1 (Photowalk)
  • Transportation/Hiring of Bus (to and fro) to convey 18 persons to 1 location = ₦85,000
  • Refreshments 18 plates of food @#2,500 per plate = ₦45,000
  • Drinks (2 packs) = ₦6000
  • Table Water (2 packs) = ₦2000
  • Customized T-shirt for the 3 Facilitators 4,000x3 = ₦12,000


DAY 2 (Photo Upload Session)

  • Airtime and data subscription for 18 participants for online training and photo upload (To be provided by the WUGN)
  • Airtime and data for the organizing of the event and reaching out to some of the participants = ₦4500

PRIZES (For top contributors)

  • 1st prize, 2nd prize, and 3rd prize = ₦45000
  • Contingencies = ₦10,000
