  • This project is aimed at gathering photographers to start contributing to Wikimedia commons using the Global " Wiki Loves Earth 2023" campaign.

  • The start time of the project will be 1st of July to 20th July, 2023. The phototrek and upload session will be on the 5th of July 2023.

Project Goal[edit]

Choose one or more of the following goals. Feel free to add or delete goals as required by your project.

  1. Recruit new professional photographers
  2. Contribute several images to Wikimedia commons
  3. Train New photographers on how to upload pictures on Wiki Commons.
  4. create a viable wikimedia photography community using the LASPAN influence.

One photowalk event and upload section

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
yes I have communicated with the Wikimedia Nigeria Community leadership about the project. You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

A form has been shared for photographers to join and be part, and so far over 100 photographers have registered

3. How will you let participants know about the photowalk? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

  • I am an experienced photographer of over 15 years experience and will be leading this project along with other members of the Wikimdia Nigeria leadership.

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

yes they are experienced photographers and have their cameras

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

New photographers and editors will be added to our WhatsApp platform.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This project is an important one in recruiting professional photographers and also establishing partnership relationship with various photography groups to contribute to Wikimedia.

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:

  1. Number of events: 2
  2. Number of participants:100
  3. Number of new editors: 70
  4. Number of images uploaded: 600
  5. Number of repeat participants (for projects that include a series of events)

Metrics tracking[edit]

How do you plan to track your project metrics? The photo will be uploaded under the designated category "Wiki Loves Earth 2023 Nigeria" and the outreach dashboard tool will also be used.

Experienced photographers are available to contribute their skills and knowledge to the project and also the leadership of Wikimedia Nigeria.

  • Standard Hall with fan (for upload session) : 150,000
  • Prizes (for the highest pictures uploaded) :
    • SD Card - 128gb = 15,000


    • Umbrella (for Strobe Light) = 20,000


    • Reflector (110cm 2in1) = 15,000

  • Food and Drinks for all participants = 100 x 750 = 75,000
  • Hotel (10k per night) for Wikimedia team and gaspo team. = 10,000 x 4 = 40,000
  • Miscellaneous 10,000

TOTAL = 325,000
