  • This project is aimed at contributing to the Global " Wiki Loves Earth 2023" under the Wikimedia User Group Nigeria. We will be moving round natural landmarks in Edo state and environment to take pictures and then upload it on Wikimedia commons.

Project Goal[edit]

  1. Recruit new photographers
  2. Projects focusing on adding usable cultural contents on WikiCommons to be used on Wikipedia and other projects.
  3. Train New photographers on how to upload pictures on Wiki Commons.
  4. create a wikimedia photography community.

yes I have communicated with the Wikimedia Nigeria Community talk group about the project. You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

I will establish a WhatsApp community group of photographers participating.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

New photographers and editors will be added to our WhatsApp platform for future updates and participation in other Wikimedia projects

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This project aims to foster the growth of free knowledge by encouraging and engaging more photographers to contribute to Wikimedia Commons. By expanding the pool of contributors, we can enhance the quality and diversity of visual content available to the Wikimedia community.

Metrics tracking[edit]

How do you plan to track your project metrics? The photo will be uploaded under the designated category "Wiki Loves Earth 2023 Nigeria" to facilitate effective tracking of the number of uploads. This will enable us to monitor the progress and impact of the project using the outreach dashboard, which provides valuable insights and metrics on participation and engagement. By implementing this tracking system, we can measure the success of the initiative and make data-driven decisions to optimize our outreach efforts.
