  • Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri, a government owned institution in Borno State, Nigeria, renowned for education and technology, is the backdrop for the "Wikipedia Awareness and Training" project. It aims to educate students, faculty, and staff about Wikipedia, fostering awareness, building capacity through workshops, and promoting collaboration in Wikipedia editing, bridging academia and the digital world for knowledge sharing and skill development.

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

The project will be for two days, Trips and Physical Training. On the first I and Facilitator and two from the leaders of student's unions we will take a tour within school premises sharing flyers and given awareness about Wikipedia. On the next day we will organize a Physical Events which we will train participants on how they use Wikipedia as a research and how they can edit Wikipedia.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

I will share via Hausa Communities WhatsApp groups which I belongs

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

I will let them know via Student's WhatsApp groups and class announcement

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse your proposal as proof of availability)

The participants have smartphones and some will use Laptops

I will create a WhatsApp group for Ramat Poly Wikimedians

I'm old student and I'm in good contact with the school's management and students

  • I, User:Mr. Snatch, am currently employed at the Radio Nigeria Sunshine FM as a program presenter, and I will assume the role of project leader. Furthermore, I possess extensive experience as a Wikipedia editor, graduate from the Ramat Poly, holding a degree in electrical engineering. In my capacity, I will oversee project coordination.
  • User:Muhammad Idriss Criteria will serve as the project's esteemed guest. He is a seasoned Wikimedian based in Potiskum, whose involvement promises to bring valuable insights and expertise to our initiative.
