This project focuses on raising awareness about Wikipedia and recruiting new editors from Southern Kano. The goal is to organize an event that emphasizes the significance of Wikipedia, but it will not be held in Southern Kano. The project aims to expand knowledge and participation in Wikipedia in the region.

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

The project plan involves conducting a two-day series of trainings in Tudun Wada and Doguwa local governments. The objective is to recruit and train new Wikipedia editors. The plan includes venue selection, logistics arrangement, participant recruitment, curriculum development, training delivery, follow-up support, evaluation, and documentation. The project aims to provide comprehensive training, ongoing support, and foster active participation from participants.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

I will inform my community via communities dedicated groups like WhatsApp and Instagram groups.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

The target participants are people from Doguwa and Tudun Wada local governments. I will inform them primarily through WhatsApp groups, such as NPC Census groups and other groups related to local government affairs to which I belong.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.

Yes I have User:A Sulaiman Z from Northern Kano, he's experience Wikimedian and he will be Facilitator

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Yes all the participants have smartphones and some of them have laptops

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

I will create a special WhatsApp group were I will continue engaging the participants

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

If the Project was Approved it should be the first wikipedia event in Southern Kano.

Impact[edit]

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:

  1. Number of events - 2
  2. Number of participants - 20
  3. Number of new editors - 15
  4. Number of of articles created or improved - 100
  5. Number of repeat participants (for projects that include a series of events)

  1. Event hall= N30,000×2=60,000
  2. Food and refreshments for participants=N1500×20×2=N60,000.
  3. Event banner = N15,000.
  4. Data support for participants =N1500×20=30000
  5. Transportation and accommodation for one facilitator from/to = 20,000
  6. Contingency 10,000

Total amount=N195,000.
