  • This project educates participants on effective Wikipedia contributions and emphasizes understanding Wikipedia's reliability. Through workshops and discussions, it imparts insight into editing processes and citation standards. Participants learn to critically evaluate and responsibly use Wikipedia's content while contributing to its accuracy.

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

I will carry out a project by hosting a one-day workshop where I will teach the participants how to contribute to Wikipedia.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

I will late them know via Hausa Wikipedia Community and Kano Wikimedians Community WhatsApp groups

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

The participants will know via University's Students Whatsapp groups and I will inform some of them at school premises.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse your proposal as proof of availability)

Yes, all the participants have Smartphones

I will create a WhatsApp group for Wikimedia Community in YUMSUK

I will track the participant's contribution via Wikimedia Foundation Dashboard Tool

Resources[edit]

What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).

I am User:Usmanmaifada, a first-class graduate from the Department of Geography at YUMSUK. With strong connections to both school staff and students, I will be leading the event. Assisting me is User:M Bash Ne, an experienced Wikimedian from Kano State, who will serve as the project's facilitator.

  1. Event's hall= ₦30,000
  2. Food and refreshments for participants= ₦1,500×20=₦30,000
  3. Event's banner= ₦10,000.
  4. Branded T-shirts for organizer and facilitator= ₦5,000×2=₦10,000.
  5. Data support for the participants=₦1,500×20=₦30,000.
  6. Transport and accomodation for facilitator= ₦10,000.
  7. Contingency= ₦10,000.
