Wiki Loves Africa (WLA) is an annual contest where anyone across Africa can contribute free media that is relevant to their experience to Wikimedia Commons for use on Wikipedia and other Wikimedia communities (Wikimedia movement), and also make this shared media freely available for the Humankind.

Wiki Loves Africa 2024 Unilorin is aimed at adding photo and video content from kwara state on wikimedia commons. our theme for this campaign is Youth creativity in biodiversity. with our forcus on photos and video contents on biodiversity in kwara state.

participants with top contributions will be appreciated with gift vouchers.

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

we aim to organise one photo walk session and one physical training

Photo walk:The Wiki loves Africa 2024 Unilorin is a campaign that is focused at adding photo content on wikicommons, we will be organising one photo walk and physical training.

The photo walk is aimed at creating awareness about wikicommons and how participant can contribute to photo content on wiki, the title of this year's campaign tagged Africa Create.

Physical Training:Participant both new and existing will be introduced to wikimedia commons and how to contribute using technical tools on wikimedia commons like structure data

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

Creating Public Awareness: we plan to inform interested participant both existing members and those who would love to join the fan club through e-fliers and our social media pages like Instagram,X(twitter) and mainly our whatsapp plaform. this awareness is aim to continually remain the participants about the event.

Photo Walk and Training: we will informing participants about the photo walk and training by sending them official mail to inform them about the event for them not to miss out as some participant are only familiar with their mail.

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

the participants will be joining the event with their electronic devices like smart phones, tablet,camera,laptop etc. this will enable them to fully participate in the photo contests and the photo walk session.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

Global Contest:The wiki loves Africa is a global campaign that participants join and contest for the global prize. we will make sure they join the international campaign and through that get familiar with the wikimedia movement globally.

Engagement on the community platform: we will engage our participants during and after the event through our social media platforms and share other activities going-on in the wikimedia community.

Contest: after the event, there will be a contest for three weeks and participants will be awarded prizes for contributing to the local contest.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

The theme of Our version of the Wiki loves Africa 2024. Youth creativity in biodiversity is focused at seeing how our participants can be creativity with taking photo in line with the topic and the campaign globally.

The events with expand the knowledge of existing editors and create new impact on new contributors.

The executives of the fan club will be organising the trainings and the photo walk sessions. but the main organisers with special roles includes.

User:Akintundedaniel general secretary(co-organiser and trainer) i will be training the participants on how to contribute to wikimedia commons,steps and how to rightly add images on wiki sister projects.

User:favourdare123 president(Organiser and trainer): He will be training the participants during the physical training on how to contribute to wiki commons using the technical tools like structure data. He will also be overseeing the entire event.

User:Mijesty Social Media coordinator(communication and logistics): She will be incharge of logistics and communicating with participants and posting about the training using e fliers on our social media platforms.

T shirt for team members: (5000*3): NGN 15,000

Transportation for the two team members members: NGN 15,000

Transportation for participants(Bus rental) :NGN 60,000

Camera rental and photography : NGN 20,000

Appreciating prizes for any five highest editor for the training(gift vourchers) : NGN 30,000

Contigencies , Miscellaneous and Logistics: NGN 20,000
