Briefly summarize your project proposal.

  • Wiki Loves Monuments (WLM) is a public photo competition around cultural heritage monuments, organized by Wikimedia chapters, groups and local Wikipedia volunteers. The Igala Wikimedia Community members will take photos of monuments, upload those to Wikimedia Commons, and then they can be used in Wikipedia and elsewhere. The goal is to make the world's heritage monuments visible for the world wide public.

Yes, Digital cameras and phones

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

We will organize office hours to engage participants and address their challenges while we onboard them to other projects.

We will keep them posted via our social media handles.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This project will help to bring quality images of monuments in our locality to Wikimedia Commons where it can be used on Wikimedia projects and beyond.

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:

  5. Number of repeat participants (for projects that include a series of events) - 15

We use the outreach dashboard to track all uploads

Resources[edit]

What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).

Ogalihillary will keep communication active to keep everyone informed and will also manage logistics with regards to the Walkathon organization.

Dnshitobu will provide technical support owing to his rich experience with Wikimedia projects organizations.

AgnesAbah will coordinate between and among all stakeholders to ensure the project is successful.

We have no support from anywhere.

Feeding - ₦125,000 for 20 participants and 2 facilitators

Printing of vest - ₦88,000 for 20 participants and 2 facilitators

Prizes - ₦80,000 for top 5

Data allowance - ₦22,000
