Ogwashi-Uku Polytechnic is one of the Polytechnic in Ogwashi -Uku Community, Delta State.
The Wikimedia platform as a collaborative platform that supports free knowledge. As contributing to the vision of the Wikimedia movement which is to disseminate knowledge, it became my interest to involve students from the mentioned school to know about the Wikimedia movement as there have not been Wikipedia editors in the school or State. Creating Wikimedia awareness in the Polytechnic will help bring in Editors to join in sharing in the sum of all human knowledge to create & improve content on the Wikimedia space to preserve, promote and improve open Educational contents by giving it online visibility.
The programs we planned establishing are:
1. Recruiting new Editors from the school and establishing a group.
2. Training students on how to edit and how to contribute to free knowledge.
3. Edit-a-thon which will be practical session to evaluate the learning.
4. Apply for a fan club to involve Deltans or contributor's from the school which will help spread Wikimedia knowledge in the State.
This training is supported by the Head of Department of Civil Engineering

- One day training and one week edit-a-thon with online follow up
2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.
The Head of department have let students know about the project and would create mete page and WhatsApp group for participants before the event.
3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.
we will let them know through the departmental WhatsApp group
4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse your proposal as proof of availability)

They have their phones and labtop and I will teach them how to navigate.

we will open a WhatsApp group for follow up and on Wiki follow up
7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
Conducting a Wikimedia Training in the school will support access to open Education contents or recourses and give room for knowledge sharing.it will be a great opportunity to contribute to the global network of knowledge
