  • This project aims to foster women's inclusion in Gombe State, empowering women to become editors in telling their own stories through documentation of women change makers in their respective fields of endeavors to enhance their visibility.

This project not only promotes gender equality within Gombe Wikimedia community but also fosters a more inclusive knowledge base that reflects the diverse experiences and perspectives of women in Gombe State. By ensuring their voices are heard and documented, we contribute to a richer understanding of human rights and empowering women. This will be the first "Wikipedia Needs More Women" campaign to be held by the Wikimedia Gombe Network. There will be training workshops to empower female participants with skills, tools and knowledge to contribute to Wikimedia projects.

Gombe Network aims to partner with women oriented organization and community (International Federation of Female Lawyers Gombe, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists Gombe Branch, etc) to reach the targets audience for effective campaign in promoting equity and equal representation for women in open knowledge ecosystem. There will also be an edith-a-thon, which will be tracked using the outreach dashboard.

Two days of in-person training and editathon

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. 3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?

Yes, they have the equipment. New editors will be given additional support to equip them with editing skills.

The following will be used to engage participants after the event:

Follow-up emails, Post-event/feedback Survey, and updates on the WhatsApp group. subsequent online training.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

The Wikipedia Needs More Women campaign is an opportunity to bridge the gender disparity within the Wikimedia community in Gombe State. Our strategic partnerships with Women Journalists and Lawyers in the state will go a long way in recruiting female professionals into the movement to actively use their knowledge to bridge the gender gaps on Wikimedia projects.
