Comments from FDC staff[edit]

Dear Wikimedia Israel Colleagues:

Thank you for submitting this complete report on time. We learned a lot about your progress and we appreciate the more detailed systems WMIL is developing to track its progress against objectives. We can see that WMIL is working in a lot of interesting areas and is improving its approaches based on things learned from past work. We also appreciate the pictures on the report! It’s great to see your activities in action.

  • Thank you for including the specific metrics in the Growth section. We were pleased to see the numbers of lectures and participants, and were especially happy to see the number of new articles and significant edits.
  • We learned about your work with the Ministry of Education and your decision to work with gifted students, and followed your progress on some of your other educational initiatives.
  • We appreciate that the decision to target high school aged students will help to focus your educational program.
  • We note your course of action to attract inactive contributors back to WMIL, and are following your approach to doing so through a mapping process, followed by interviewing. We hope you are able to attract contributors back to the movement and will look forward to learning about how your work goes; please do share your learning in this area.
  • We enjoyed learning about your work examining the efficacy of editing workshops. Please keep us informed about the success of the Activity Coordinator in her work to keep those editors active after the edit-a-thons and trainings. We look forward to learning about how this is going, and encourage WMIL to track retention rates along with numbers of participants and content contributed.
  • We appreciate the challenges you note in building MediaWiki developers community. We look forward to learning more about this. Even though this is a challenging area, we are very interested in what WMIL learns through this work. Your approach to hosting focused hackathons that will lead to improvements to your on-Wiki area of focus is an interesting one.
  • We appreciate your detailed table looking at numbers of participants and contributions during editing workshops and we also appreciated your efforts to report on the content created through your long-term strategic partnerships program.

Thank you once again and best regards from FDC staff! Winifred Olliff (FDC Support Team) talk 23:24, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
