Grants talk:PEG/WM ES/Wiki Loves Monuments Spain 2015/Report

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Hi Poco a poco, Millars and everyone involved in Wiki Loves Monuments Spain 2015. Thank you so much for your detailed report and all your work on the successful contest! The report is approved. It's great to see such support of the project from all the volunteers who were involved in different aspects of organizing it, as well as support from Mensa España. The amount of organizational work done on-wiki is very impressive!

We are really excited to see that the change in emphasis this year to increasing quality and coverage was successful. We understand the challenges with the banner and getting the word out about "No municipality without a photograph", but your results are still impressive. 560 new monuments is far beyond your target of 100! We agree that focusing on material not yet available pays off because you get fewer pictures but they are more useful. The quality of photos has also improved significantly, with 311 quality images and 17 featured images! The impact of increased coverage and quality can clearly be seen in the relatively high usage rate of 22.6%.

Regarding what you would do differently, it would be helpful to have more details about the suggested tools. One would be a better method to categorize monuments on a list that are already available on Commons. The second would be a better jury tool. A number of other project organizers have talked about a more robust jury tool for photo contests. I'd like to learn more about this and will reach out to you.

Congrats again on a very successful contest! Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 04:34, 21 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
