Comments from WMF[edit]

Hello Timmylegend, thank you for submitting this rapid grant application. We have reviewed it and have a few questions and comments regarding your application:

  1. In the Impact section of your application you list the total number of participants as 40 and the number of repeat participants as 40. How will you ensure that all 40 participants come to all 5 of the events?

There's a high level of interest and motivation amongst members of the Wikimedia Fan Club at the University of Ilorin to contribute to Wikipedia and it's sister projects. The club has over 100 members on its WhatsApp group and with a lot of persons who want to join the club. This project provides a means to train them and to make Wikipedia more reliable by contributing through the 1lib1ref project.

Reminders will be sent through the WhatsApp group and through the club social media handles as well as via emails to remind them and fix a time that will be convenient for all to participate.

There will be cases whereby new participants will join in subsequent edit-a-thon sessions, that means there's a chance we exceed 40 participants.

  1. Organizing and running five edit-a-thons on your own is a lot of work. Do you have other experienced editors to help you with the events?

Yes

There are other experienced users who are going to help with the events. Bilijin, Amioluwa123, Teemah 24, Elnino898, ReoMartins, Sunnyjoe035

Meanwhile, Haylad the former president of the club and Kenogenic, Jamie Tubers an alumnus of the University have shown interest and willingness in attending the events.

We look forward to reading your responses and making a funding decision. Thank you for taking the time to make these edits! Best regards, WJifar (WMF) (talk) 02:27, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request to Modify Grant Expenses[edit]

I would like to make a request to use the funds meant for the rollup banner to make shirts which will be given to volunteers at the meetup to encourage and motivate them. Timmylegend (talk) 20:42, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Timmylegend, we usually ask grantees not to make t-shirts they give to all volunteers since they tend to be a big ticket item. Are you planning to only use $82 that is currently allocated for rollup banner or will you be needing to increase that budget? Please let us know and we can make a decision on this request. Best regards, WJifar (WMF) (talk) 01:15, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I plan on only using the $82 meant for the rollup banner to make the shirt which will be given to volunteers with active contributions. Timmylegend (talk) 09:04, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
