Thank you for applying to host a local meetup at the Wikimedia Hackathon. We are so grateful you took the time to put together a proposal, but unfortunately we will not be able to fund your proposal at this time. This was the first time the Hackathon organizers ran a grant program, and because of limited resources we were not able to accept most of the proposals we received.
Our committee was thrilled to see the details and passion of your event plan. The Hackathon committee had to prioritize funding local meetups for more experienced technical communities this year.
We strongly encourage your organizers and community members to attend the online Hackathon. There are many other ways to take part in the online event, from hosting sessions, joining projects, or participating in social events online. It is the best way to begin to build a local technical community. We look forward to meeting you there!
Please do not let this decision dissuade you from applying for another Rapid Grant in the future.
