Ineligible

[edit]

Hello Jwale2, I am marking your proposal as ineligible as it does not meet the minimum requirement($500 USD) of our program. Best regards, WJifar (WMF) (talk) 01:03, 10 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello WJifar (WMF), I have been expecting your feedback, I have edited the grant proposal page and resubmitted it ones again. Is that the only problem? Jwale2 (talk) 04:38, 11 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Review from WMF

[edit]

Hello Jwale2, thank you for your patience as we reviewed your proposal. Sorry we haven't yet been able to connect on your projects. I will do my best to articulate here what we're looking for and what would make this project successsful.

  1. I see that you're targeting high school girls between the ages of 13 - 17. However, I don't see in your project which high schools you're planning to work with. If you've reached out to teachers or administrators to see if they are interested in working with you on this project. Can you tell us more about how you're developing that partnership?
  2. You mention partnering with event organizers and the hubs. Have you reached out to anyone yet? Have they expressed interest? If so please list the names of the partners you plan to be working with.
  3. I see that you have a plan to teach research, editing, formatting in your 30 - 90 minute slots. Have you done such trainings before?
  4. You mentioned working with NGOs in weekly trainings. Can you tell us which NGOs have expressed interest in this programming?
  5. In your budget you state 2 people will be using transportation. I trust one of the two people is yourself, can you clarify who the second person is?
  6. Also in your budget you have allocated GHC 1000 for meetups. Given that you're planning to only do 30 - 90 minute sessions either in a high school or NGO setting this does not seem like a necessary expense. We usually offer food for editathons that require attendees to be there for half a day or full day presentations.

Please let me know your response to these questions and I can proceed with next steps. Best regards, WJifar (WMF) (talk) 23:20, 11 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

1. I have sent proposal letters to various Junior High and Senior High Schools. Schools like O’Reilly Senior High School and Oriens Day and Boarding Junior High School and they have expressed keen interest and are looking forward to partner with us for the project and also we are waiting for response from three school for feedback.

2. Yes we have reached out to them and also they have expressed interest in the projects. The list of partners for the project are:

  • Kumasi Hive – We would be training young woman in school (tertiary) and the working industry in their space.
  • Girls Education Initiative Ghana (GEIG) – Training girls who are less privilege and marginalize.
  • Ajo Social – Supporting us with outreach

3. Yes, I have done such training events before. In 2015 I trained girls from Archbishop Porter girls senior high school (Takoradi) through the inspire campaign project, I also trained Ghana Secondary Technical School (Takoradi), had partnership with Junior Camp Ghana.

4. The NGO's that have expressed interest in our project are Kumasi Hive, Girls Education Initiative Ghana (GEIG) for training and Ajo Social for outreach support.

5. The name of the second volunteer is Leonard Hagan (User:Leooney)

6. Some of the Schools administration have given me the time for start and close of event which would be a half day event, the NGO’s are yet to communicate their time. Kumasi Hive wants me to pay for meetup space and also they want the event to big because of their organizational setup they would involving more girls for the training but a specific amount has not been given yet that is why I made food and meetup GHC 1000.

All questions have been answered to the best of my knowledge.

Thanks and regards Jwale2 (talk) 07:12, 12 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello Jwale2, thank you for providing answers to all my questions. I can see here that you've done a lot of pre-work to get the participants and have previous experience in training people on wikipedia. I look forward to seeing how this project turns out. I understand your initial date has now passed so please adjust the dates to when you hope to conduct these trainings. I am approving your grant request. Extension

[edit]

Hello Woubzena, The team is almost done with the project Shepedia and our report has started in earnest. The team wants an extension of the time line for project deadline which is Monday, 6th May,2019 to be extended to Monday, 20th May ,2019.

The reason is because our last project in a hub in Takoradi known as Icode Ghana has been slated on the Saturday,18th May,2019. We hope to get an extension to complete our project and project report as soon as possible.

Thanks & Regards Jwale2 (talk) 10:18, 2 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
