Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Satdeep Gill/Punjabi Wikimedians (Feb-June 2017) Plan/Report

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Hi Satdeep Gill. Thank you for this detailed report and all the team's efforts to engage the Punjabi community. It's great to hear that you were able to expand your events to more cities, as well as partner with new organizations. We're excited that so many women in the user group have been able to take on leadership roles and organize events! We understand that many participants are one-time participants. What type of follow-up have you been doing with new editors after events are over? Have you tried different methods to keep them engaged -- on wiki, social media, mailing lists, etc.? You mentioned that "the target outcome should have been more aligned to the overall project." Can you explain this a bit more?

There is 6,791 INR that you would like to retain and use for additional wiki activities. Can you please provide more details on the discussion page of what those activities would be and a timeline for using the funds?

Thanks again for all your work! Cheers, Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 05:12, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @AWang (WMF): Thanks for your comments and apologies for replying late.
  1. We have been able to keep some of the editors engaged via social media platforms such as Whatsapp.
  2. The target outcomes should have included the number of events, the number of new organizers and perhaps some other metrics.
  3. Regarding using the remaining funds, we will be using that for our regular activities which includes meetups, edit-a-thons and wikiexpeditions.

@AWang (WMF): @MJue (WMF): We have used the remaining funds for some of our events for the last months. This included a female only edit-a-thon in Chandigarh, a meetup in Patiala, a few WikiExpeditions, a Hindi meetup in Karnal and a few other meetings which included meetings with some of our potential partners. --Satdeep Gill (talk) 18:14, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Satdeep Gill. Thanks so much for letting us know how the underspend was used and providing links to the events! Once we receive the final expense documentation for the additional expenses we can close the report. Cheers, Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 23:43, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
