Moved to Draft[edit]

I moved this to draft since the application initially came in after January 15th. It was also in the wrong place so we've moved it to the right location on Jan. 25. Best regards, WJifar (WMF) (talk) 03:40, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Olaniyan Olushola, thank you for submitting this grant application. We have read this proposal, as well as the reports for similar proposals you submitted in 2017 and 2018, and we have some follow up questions.

  1. You mention that the planned meetings intend to serve as editathon spaces in support of Wiki Loves Women Radio program. Is this program still ongoing?
The grant request was published prior to your information that WMF is no longer interested in funding Wiki Loves Women radio program in Nigeria ,Yes, the program is on going with our self-raised fund. Since the initial obejctive is no longer feasible per the above information. Therefore, We need to amend the grant to effect other community related activities that will focus on increasing the grouth of the community in Nigeria. ( Apologyy for not effecting these changes befire resubmitting the grant)
  1. If the radio show is still ongoing, and this is a grant proposal for meetups and not for editathons, we want to ask how you intend to create a learning space for newcomers who arrive after having listened to the show.
  1. Meetups and Edit-athons are used interchangeably in our grant request. Like any other user groups in the movement, there are different level of members that constitute Wikimedia User Group Nigeria. 1. Some are experienced 2. Less Experienced and 3 Newbies. As a group, we have factored different programs that will be of benefit to all our members. As per newcomers, while we organise different programs for the benefit of all cadres of our members, we ensure that our new members are managed by some of the experienced Wikipedians. Therefore, in all our gatherings, Meetup/editathon/training could be held simulteanously depending on the members on ground.
  1. Since this is the third application for Meetups, can you tell us about how the last two meetups have incorporated the Wiki Loves Women Radio shows? How many shows have been recorded and how many articles have been improved or created?
As far as I could remember, only one meetup was granted by WMF with the aim of supporting articles creation/improvement for Wiki Loves Women radio program. .At the moment, we have recorded over 48 episodes of Wiki Women Radio.
  1. You say that the idea is also to have a discussion space for WikiIndaba and other projects. Can you give us a sample agenda for the first meetup, or a description of the event in general, so that we have a clearer idea?
We dont have any agenda yet, our understanding is that agenda comes with the purpose of addresing issues to be discussed in a meeting. Our plan is to make provisions for meeting such as meeting with our potential partners, WikiIndaba or any omgoing events that are not supported by any of our budget. in light of above explaination, our likely agenda will address issues to be discussed with respect to the meeting at hand.
  1. I know this is because we were not able to get to your application in time but now that we're reviewing could you please change the application date to be May - August? This would also mean revising your budget accordingly.
We have changed the Grant period ( May-November) with provision for either July or June as the case may be.Kindly note that our budge will remain the same because we still hold the plan of organizing six monlty gathering. However, it's only our focus that is slithly changed.
  1. Lastly, have you considered how having WikiIndaba in June/July would affect these monthly meetups? Will they be able to continue during that time? If you plan to skip any because of WikiIndaba, you should also factor that in now.e
Yes, we have considerd how the hosting of WikiIndaba will affect our monthly meetup. The Meet-up will start from May to November with provision for either June or July.

Looking forward to hearing your responses on these questions. Best regards, WJifar (WMF) (talk) 17:57, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Further comments from WMF[edit]

Hello, Olaniyan Olushola; thank you for addressing our questions. In the last weeks since we began the review process, the movement strategy discussions have advanced and it is very likely that support for meetups will have a different set of requirements in the new fiscal year that will begin before the meetups in your proposal are completed. Given that you are applying for funding for several meetups, we decided it is best to temporarily move it back to drafts; you will be able to revisit your application and resubmit once the new strategy and guidelines are in place in the next few weeks.
