Questions about your request[edit]

Thank you for the request. We have 2 questions / requests for information:

  1. The cost of accommodation quoted here is higher than we are able to approve: we would expect a hotel cost of US$ 60 - US$90 per night for this area, unless there are special circumstances that require a more expensive hotel. Please adjust the costs in your proposal accordingly, or provide an explanation here.

ENeely Response: I can reduce those cost no problem. I for sure do not need anything special as far as lodging.

Thanks for adjusting! Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 17:00, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  1. From your goal and expected impact statement, it appears that your participation will primarily benefit your institution, The Art Institute; yet, you are requesting funding from Wikimedia to attend the event. We would like more details about how your participation will benefit the Wikimedia Movement, beyond the benefits to you and the institution.

Thank you for the additional information. Regards, Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 23:42, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

eneely response: True, this would help the Art Institute, but it has not been a priority agenda at the AIC which is why I do not have funding allocated to it. I want to develop the tools and talking points to advocate the agenda. As a large institution, I believe that if I'm successful, we can serve as a model advancing the GLAM-wiki cause. We have a history of producing project that affect the field-our Online Scholarly Catalogue project was funded by the Getty to be broadened as a toolkit. We built our LaunchPad project on open source TAP/TourML to advanced it as a standard and platform. I am active in the GLAM community and believe strongly in the GLAM-wiki mission. By attending the kickoff, I hope to be able to better advocated intelligently about the specifics of the GLAM-wiki facets.

Thank you for the additional information! Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 17:00, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

One more question[edit]

We also noticed you have not linked to a Username. Would you please describe how you are active on Wikimedia projects and link to your Username on any projects to which you are an active contributor? Thank you, Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 00:02, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

eneely response:
I will be a contributor at the conference by talking about the challenges to wiki participation in large institutions. At my museum, I am a decision-maker, but would not myself likely be a hands on contributor. I understand if you are looking for only hands on contributions.

Thanks! To be clear, are you indicating here that you do not have a Username on any Wikimedia project? Thanks, Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 16:59, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
eneely response: Indeed-I do not myself have a login name. I am more trying to push the agenda from a strategic standpoint, both within my institution and in the museum field. In the past this has involved creating phone meetings with Lori Byrd Philips and visiting her at the Children's museum to get the stand point of deployment strategy there. Additionally, by supporting the inclusion of Wikipedians and GLAM-wiki topics in the Museum Computer Network (MCN) conference. I see it as a different form of participation. Thank you!
Understood. Thank you! Winifred Olliff (Grants Administrator) talk 19:02, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request not funded[edit]

Eneely: thank you for this thoughtful request. We are excited to learn about your work as GLAM-wiki advocate; however, this purpose of this program is primarily to support contributors to Wikimedia projects and we rarely approve requests from participants without a contribution record. Please do return with another request if you continue your involvement by contributing to a Wikimedia project, and thank you again for your engagement in this discussion.
