Hello, Pragunbhutani:

Thank you for submitting a request, and for submitting well in advance of the conference start date. We have a few initial questions for you:

  • Have you yet submitted a proposal for a talk at SMWCon? We were unable to locate one [here http://semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/SMWCon_Fall_2013].
  • Have you requested any funding from GSoC? We know there is some travel funding available.
  • Have your mentors endorsed this request, or would they consider endorsing it?

Hello!

First of all, I thank you for processing my application so quickly. One blanket reason that basically answers all three queries is that I hadn't yet completed my application. I didn't think anybody would be notified till I mailed somebody at participation[at]wikimedia[dot]org and I was going to do so as soon as I completed the application.

  • I haven't submitted one yet. It'll be there by monday. I'd like to propose a talk based on my GSoC experience, as highlighted in my participation support request.
  • I haven't actually. I shall look into this. In case I do get some, I shall subtract the same amount from the amount I've requested from Wikimedia and will also update my participation support application accordingly.
  • Yes, I have discussed attending the event with my primary mentor, Katie Filbert. I'll ask her if she can endorse my application.

Request not funded[edit]

Thank you for this request, Pragunbhutani.

We thank you for your active contributions to Mediawiki and we see that meeting with the WikiData team may be productive for your work; however, we are not able to fund this request with your level of participation in SMWCon 2013 (a lightning talk). The purpose of your participation seems to be more focused on meeting with the WikiData team than participating in the conference itself. See, "Level of Participation" and "Investment" in Participation:Support#Criteria for decision for more information about our criteria for funding requests.
