Hausa Community Wiki For Human Rights Campaing

The Wiki for Human Rights Campaing is an initiative aimed at promoting human rights education and awareness through the use of Wikimedia projects, such as Wikipedia and Wiktionary. The Wiki for Human Rights program is a unique opportunity for individuals interested in human rights and Wikimedia projects to learn new skills, meet like-minded individuals, and make a meaningful contribution to the promotion of human rights education and awareness. The program involves in-person and online training, as well as a three-week contest to encourage participants to contribute content related to human rights to Wikimedia projects. In-person event

[edit]

The in-person training is designed to provide participants with an introduction to the principles of human rights and the basics of contributing to Wikimedia projects. It is conducted by experienced Wikimedia contributors and human rights experts, who will guide participants through the process of creating and editing content related to human rights.

Online training

[edit]

The online training is available to participants who are unable to attend the in-person training, or who would like to further develop their skills. The online training consists of a series of video tutorials and interactive exercises that cover topics such as Wikipedia editing basics, human rights terminology, and citation practices.

Contest

[edit]

Following the training, participants will have the opportunity to participate in a three-week contest to contribute content related to human rights to Wikimedia projects. The contest is designed to encourage participants to put their newly acquired skills into practice and to contribute to the promotion of human rights education and awareness.

Participants in the contest will be encouraged to create new articles or to expand existing articles related to human rights, using reliable sources and following Wikipedia's guidelines and policies. The contest will be judged by a panel of experienced Wikimedia contributors and human rights experts, who will evaluate the contributions based on their quality, relevance, and impact. Use the already curated topic lists for Wiktionary, Wikiquote, Wikidata and Wikipedia here created for the African region to support community organizers as well as lighten their burden of creating a local topic list for their campaign. Ensure you encourage participants to always check if a wikipedia article, wikidata item, wikiquote article or wiktionary word exist before creating.
